I work with couples and individuals. My clients are often experiencing significant life changes or struggles with identity (how others perceive you vs. how you perceive yourself). Rather than complex interpretation, I offer honest and productive conversation that hopefully leads to less confusion, less worry and a better understanding of yourself.
Couples often arrive at counselling when they sense a troubling distance growing between them or they are fighting non-stop and can't work out how to change. I help to put in place new ways of speaking and listening to one another. For couples I work in-person only.
In both individual and couple work I offer DBT informed counselling - providing tools for a client to regulate their stress beyond the counselling hour.
Our work might be short and solution focused (4 - 6 sessions). If you want to work on a deeper aspect of yourself the process can take longer. Ultimately how many sessions we have is up to you, the client.
Counsellors do not diagnose or treat mental illness - instead we work with the problems of day-to-day living.
