I completed my MA in Clinical Social Work at the University of Cape Town in 2001. Over the last 25 years, I have worked therapeutically with individuals, families, and groups in various different settings such as primary schools, tertiary institutions, family mental health units, state primary health care clinics, fertility clinics, corporate companies, and in private practice. In my practice, I work with adults, young adults and teenagers offering short to long term psychotherapy depending on the needs of the person.
I have experience working with a variety of presenting issues. These include: managing and dealing with symptoms of depression and anxiety, trauma, bereavement and loss, relationship / interpersonal difficulties, managing ADHD (children and adults), parenting guidance and support, work-related stressors, identity development and adjustment to life changes.
I mostly incorporate a psychodynamic framework when working with clients, considering the impact that early and past experiences have had on their current lives and locating links. I use a variety of strategies from other modalities too, depending on the needs and age of the person. I aim to create a safe, empathic, and collaborative therapeutic environment.
