It is safer for many people to hide who they really are in order not to feel vulnerable to the world and others, it is a way of protecting themselves from being hurt. Despite this, it is still very painful when we are not known or seen by others. We really want to be found, to be understood and to be loved by others.

Sometimes the demands of life can become overwhelming and we could do with kind heart to journey alongside us as we explore a life of more meaning, purpose and joy. My approach to therapy and personal development is person-centred, solution-oriented and DBT, founded in a deep belief that life is unconditionally meaningful. I do this with a casual, intuitive and holistic attitude using traditional and innovative therapeutic methods. I have a particular interest in non-traditional experiential therapeutic approaches that incorporate animals, in particular horses.

If you are angry, frustrated, feeling alone and helpless because you (or your
teenager
) are being bullied, then I can help. There will always be bullies in life, its how you deal with them and how you view yourself that helps you to cope with the bullies. I understand the feelings of being alone, not wanting to carry on, wanting to give up. I also know that if you do not get help in your teenage years, you will be a victim of bullying throughout your life. I know that the bully has taken so much of your self-worth away. I can help you become the person you where before the bullying with more confidence and more self esteem.

Kindly note that I am currently NOT accepting new clients. Psychotherapy addresses personal difficulties. It provides the client a space to talk openly and confidentially about their concerns and feelings with a trained professional. Psychotherapy involves the formation of a therapeutic relationship, communicating, creating genuine dialogue and working to overcome problematic thoughts, feelings and behaviours. The goal of Psychotherapy is to bring about change in ones life - to optimise psychological well-being.

Teen Counsellors
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.
How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.
How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.
How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
