Whether this struggle feels loud, like anxiety or a tough life event or quiet like a loss of motivation, a sense of disconnection, or an inner voice questioning our worth; therapy explores what lies beneath.
I work with adult individuals, couples and families. My areas of interest include relationship/marital issues (and break-ups /post-divorce adjustment), life transitions, loss ( grief etc), depression and anxiety. My personal passion is relationships and why some work and others do not. My clients describe me as warm, insightful and quietly challenging.

Do you need a safe space to air your thoughts and speak your heart? Do you need to navigate a difficult season in your life? Or do you need to heal from something that you are tired of hurting from? Life is beautiful but just like the rose, it comes with thorns. All of us need support sometimes, no matter who we are, and no matter our age. A specific traumatic event, a transition that you are going through like divorce or relocation, school or friendship issues, work issues, mental health difficulties like depression and anxiety, or just the desire for a mental health and personal growth check-in may bring you to therapy.

I view all therapy, whether with couples or individuals, as a pursuit of truth. Of what is true for a person, or true for a couple (or individuals in a couple). We often experience unease, anxiety and discord because we're struggling to accept our reality, and to come to terms with what it means. I help my clients to unpack and explore their inner worlds, and to make sense of what it all means, so that they can make empowered, conscious and liberated choices.

Life can become overwhelming under the weight of trauma, loss, workplace stress, family challenges, or major life transitions that affect your emotional wellbeing.
Healing is not about becoming someone else. It is about reconnecting with the parts of yourself that may have been buried beneath stress, trauma, grief, or survival. My role is to walk alongside you as you reconnect with your strengths, process difficult experiences, and move toward a healthier and more fulfilling quality of life.

You may have experienced a sudden painful disruption in your life which has thrown into question your beliefs about your relationships, yourself and the world, creating a loss of safety.
I am working with relationship difficulties, depression and difficulties coping. These difficulties usually require a medium-term committment to therapy (6 months or more). I am also working short-term in mindfulness-based therapy (12 - 15 sessions), which is indicated for anxiety, and requires a commitment to between session practice at home.

People come to therapy for different reasons. Many people come because of difficulties they are currently experiencing, which can include long periods of distressing feelings or thoughts, struggling to cope, relationship problems, and/ or difficulty dealing with a particularly distressing situation. Other people come to therapy simply to gain a better understanding of themselves and more fulfilment in their lives and relationships. Therapy is a unique experience and a relationship between you and a professional. It is very normal to not fully understand its nature at the outset.

Grief Counsellors
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
