I am a Community-Based Counselling Psychologist whose training and interests lie in understanding individuals and the contexts which shape them. I believe that through understanding our own thoughts and reactions, and learning to reflect on the world around us, we become more able to manage the challenges we experience in life. I work with adults and adolescents, and I am keenly interested in areas relating to anxiety, stress, grief, loss, and bereavement. I also assist people who are interested in personal development, self-growth, and discovery. I am comfortable working with both clearly defined and open-ended therapy goals.

Perhaps you've been through a difficult experience, or a major life change. You might be battling with depression, or anxiety, or another emotional difficulty. Maybe you're struggling in one or more of your relationships, or you might be trying to change one or more unhealthy habits. Any of these challenges can make life unnecessarily difficult. I'm ready to work with you to get back on your feet, learn to say no, find different ways to cope, let go, or find the support you've been missing.

People come to therapy for different reasons. Many people come because of difficulties they are currently experiencing, which can include long periods of distressing feelings or thoughts, struggling to cope, relationship problems, and/ or difficulty dealing with a particularly distressing situation. Other people come to therapy simply to gain a better understanding of themselves and more fulfilment in their lives and relationships. Therapy is a unique experience and a relationship between you and a professional. It is very normal to not fully understand its nature at the outset.

Children and teenagers experience the world in ways that can be difficult for them to put into words. Through play, stories, and connection, I help young people express their emotions, process their experiences, and build the skills they need to navigate life’s challenges. Whether a child or teen is struggling with anxiety, trauma, emotional regulation, or social difficulties, my goal is to create a space where they feel understood, supported, and empowered. I work collaboratively with parents to help them understand their child’s emotions and behaviours, offering guidance on how to support their child’s growth.

The journey of processing difficulties and learning about oneself is a path which not many people dare to travel, despite the immense rewards such a journey offers. Bringing one’s innermost fears, difficulties and traumatic experiences to the therapy room is not easy. Being cognizant of this, building a trusting relationship with my client and creating a safe space to work in, is of utmost importance to me. As a therapist, this quote by Terence really resonates with me: “I am human; let nothing human be alien to me.”

I work with children from two years, adolescents and adults that are experiencing behavioural, emotional, academic and career-related problems due to difficulties with adjustment. Having had much exposure and experience with different types of trauma, I am passionate about working with all spheres of trauma, particularly with children. Career assessment and subject choice for scholars is an area I enjoy assisting with. Having worked with many individuals that develop psychological issues from studying subjects that they are not passionate about, or being in a career that does not promote self-actualisation.

My ideal client feels caught between who they are and who they hope to become. They may be navigating anxiety, stress, self-doubt, emotional difficulties, grief, a traumatic past or relationship, or the sense that they are doing life “right,” yet still not feeling grounded. They want a supportive space to step into courage & confidence, build capacity to navigate & overcome life's boulders, make decisions and take action! Understanding that healing is not an overall destination, but a process that encourages & celebrates your individuality & differences. My clients feel seen, heard, understood, and empowered to take control of life!
