Starting therapy is a courageous and very important step. It is possible that you have experienced a variety of losses, changed how you normally feel, or felt a strong desire to understand more about and appreciate who you are. Counselling is a setting that can be useful for navigating these situations, discovering new identities, and getting over obstacles in life. The main objective of therapy is to essentially improve the client's relationship with themselves and the outside world, in addition to helping them realize their goals. We assist clients in pursuing their ideal quality of life during therapy.

If you’re feeling stuck, burnt out, or disconnected, despite outward success, you’re not alone. Many high-achieving individuals reach a point where the demands, decisions, and quiet pressure to keep performing begin to erode their sense of self. My role is to create a space where you can pause, reflect, and realign with who you are and who you want to become.

In life, we face many challenges that affect us on different levels. These may include stress, chronic pain, depression, anxiety, trauma and many others. How we deal with these challenges is important so that we can be mentally and physically healthy and live fulfilling lives. Sometimes, we just need someone to lend an ear and other times we need a professional to guide us in our process of healing. When working with clients, I believe that each client has the internal resources that can facilitate change and that thorugh a safe and non - judgmental space this can be achieved.

Along this life journey we may get thrown a curve ball and may be facing difficulties that feel overwhelming and our usual coping mechanisms fail us. A soldier can only run so far on a wounded limb, until they pay attention to it and dress it up for healing. So it is with life. We may need to tend to, dress, and heal the wounds. Therapy can be a powerful mechanism of healing, growth and restoration. I work with children, adolescents, adults, and families who may be experiencing a wide range of including emotional, relational, psychiatric and health-related difficulties.

My therapeutic interests are varied, and are founded on a passion for connection and providing a safe, non-judgmental space for people to share, explore and grow. If nothing else, I am an advocate for having yourself reflected back at you in a supportive and empowering space. Through my own personal therapy, I understand the apprehension around sharing intimate information. However, I have consistently observed the value of being seen, understood and challenged in therapy. My ideal clients are adults, adolescents and couples that are curious about themselves and invested in collaborative work.

I am a Clinical Psychologist in part-time private practice in Krugersdorp, West Rand. I have undergone training that focused on systems theory. Hence, the focus of therapy is dealing with client's difficulties by addressing the interactional conflicts and stressors between the client, significant others and their environment. A general systems model holds that families are systems and that every action in a family produces a reaction in one or more of its members. However, I utilise a range of therapeutic modalities in order to suit the needs of clients.

Grief Counsellors
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
