I adopt a client-centred approach, using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and various other modalities.
Many people I meet are seeking meaningful connection; they yearn to be listened to, fully seen and understood for who they truly are. They need to belong. I believe that if we all stood in a circle and held hands, each of us could take a little love from the person on their right, absorb what they need and pass the remainder on, to the person on their left. Is this not our role on the planet - to nourish and uplift one another as best we can?

A psychologist helps you deal with the issues through bringing perspective, exploring options, developing strategies and increasing self-awareness to get you back on your feet and empower you to take back control of your life. Therapy is not only for people who are feeling overwhelmed in areas of their lives but also for those who are curious about knowing and understanding themselves in greater depth and those who want the opportunity to share their views, be heard and gain new perspectives on their situation and experiences.

I draw on evidence-based frameworks including CBT, ACT, compassionate-focused work, and holistic support to help clients feel safer in their bodies, reduce self-blame, and rebuild a sense of internal stability.
Most of the people I work with are exhausted. They may be living with chronic illness or pain, struggling with anxiety, or feeling emotionally worn down after years of managing expectations, trauma responses, and other people’s needs. Many describe feeling disconnected from themselves, constantly pushing through, or stuck in survival mode even when they’re “doing everything right.”

I approach clients with a combination of different therapeutic models until our journey together reveals an appropriate model which can include techniques like cognitive behavioral therapy ( CBT), psychodynamic therapy, and possibly other methods.
As a Specialist Wellness counsellor, I specialize in marriage counselling, narcissism and other toxic traits as well as dealing with conflict resolution, self-discovery, stress, anxiety and trauma. I am a compassionate listener. I care. I can be your beacon in a world that seems so lonely, at times. I understand the painful, repetitive thoughts, that occupy your mind all the time. I know about the sleepless nights, the worry, the tears. When you’re trying to make sense of so many feelings, I will gladly be that safe haven where you will be afforded all the opportunity you need, to speak and know that you will be heard.

Cognitive Behavioural (CBT) Counsellors

How does cognitive behavioural therapy work?

Cognitive behavioural therapy works by exploring how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences. CBT helps you identify distortions in your thinking. For example, you may tend to jump to the worst case scenario catastrophising or think in extremes (all-or-nothing thinking). A therapist can teach you how to push back against those thoughts to ultimately change your feelings and behavior for the better. They can also provide coping skills to better deal with stressors and challenges.

When do I know to seek treatment with cognitive behavioural therapy?

It’s reasonable to consider cognitive behavioural therapy if you struggle to manage difficult emotions or behaviors to such an extent that you are not getting the most out of life on a day-to-day basis. If you want a shorter term, concrete, skills-based approach, CBT is a great option. (By contrast, other types of therapy may devote more time to exploring your past and its effects.) The decision to seek CBT also depends on the condition you’re treating; CBT is an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and many other disorders.

How can I find a cognitive behavioural therapist for someone else?

To find a cognitive behavioural therapist for someone else, you may want to begin by discussing the person’s problem, researching cognitive behavioural therapy, and assessing whether the approach is the right fit. You could then reach out to a few cognitive behavioral therapists in this directory, explain the scenario, have a consultation with those available, and determine who could be a good match.

Why is CBT such a popular form of therapy?

CBT has become a popular form of therapy because it is effective and accessible. Robust research has demonstrated that CBT is an effective treatment for many mental health conditions. And CBT can be learned in relatively few sessions, which means that many people can engage in the process, afford it, and see results quickly. It involves learning concrete skills such as disputing unhelpful thoughts; these skills can also be taught and spread widely.
