I enjoy assisting people to realize their full potential. This may mean they are currently struggling with issues or trauma and need to be guided through the healing process. Alternatively, they are not currently living up to their potential and we will work together to assist them in unlocking their true capabilities.

I am a registered Clinical Psychologist and I am passionate about my work. I am inspired by diversity and the strength of the human psyche. Every day brings new people into my life that enriches me as a person and therapist. The relationship I have with my patient is of great importance to me. My aim is to help the individuals find a sense of self amongst the disarray of their symptoms. The self so easily gets misrepresented by symptoms and the true person does not have a voice. I want help you to find your voice! Let me join you in your process.

In this modern world we live in, we are exposed and overwhelmed by what we hear and see on a daily basis. Our "normal" now are days filled with violence, crime, trauma, stress, depression and burnout from long working hours and a rushed lifestyle. Our coping mechanisms are now drugs, alcohol and sex. All destructive. When we reach out and ask for help it is not a sign of weakness, but a sign of strength. It is a way to learn new coping skills and how to use them when facing our world and the challenges in it.

I combine practical CBT strategies with empathetic talk therapy, helping you manage sleep difficulties, anxiety, stress, or grief.
I have been supporting people who support others since 2015, when I first began supporting lay counsellors in an under-resourced community. Over the years my focus has shifted as I developed a specific interest in supporting those who support people on the autistic spectrum; parents, partners, teachers, friends, and anyone who shares their life with someone on the spectrum. My work is shaped not only by my professional training but also by my own journey as a parent of an adult on the spectrum. This gives me a grounded, personal understanding of the joys, challenges, and everyday realities that can come with neurodiversity.

My passion is assisting families who are going through challenging times. Sometimes offering a different viewpoint can bring healing, at other times a more concerted effort is required between the parties. Family-related problem areas can include marital strife, sibling issues, parent-child relationships, and external influences that cause issues between family members. I am also passionate about bereavement counselling, care of the elderly, and just about any of the challenges that are encountered as we journey through life.

Smooth seas do not make skillful sailors. In life we are faced with many obsticles and changes that we have to go through in order to grow and live fulfilling lives. Unfortunately, these obsticles and life changes do not come with a "How to" manual. I'm a registered Clinical Psychologist based in Pretoria. As a clinician, my job is not to make people change, but rather my job is to plant seeds and help my clients water their own soil and cultivate it so they have a thriving environment to grow. I work with children, adolescents, and adults. I offer individual, couple and family therapy. I speak English, Chewa, Tonga and Zulu.

I've helped people in terms of relationship crisis, anxiety, trauma, loss, burnout and depressive episodes.
Life can suck... There are many times we are caught in the midst of traumatic events, long winded episodes of depressive or low feelings. Maybe we're struggling with self worth or finding it hard to look for the "brighter side" everyone else sees. Maybe we realize the people we love are acting differently and we don't know how to cope. Or maybe we just feel alone... If you're here, maybe you're trying to figure out what to do with those feelings you are carrying.

Grief Counsellors

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
