Hello, I'm Jodie!
You might be coping on the outside while feeling overwhelmed on the inside.
Life can feel heavy, uncertain or demanding and it can be difficult to make sense of everything being carried, especially when expectations continue to pile up. Anxiety, low mood, stress, grief, or significant life changes such as shifts in relationships, work, identity, or relocating can quietly add to this sense of strain. What is often needed is a space to slow down, speak openly, and feel understood without judgement, alongside support that helps bring clarity, steadiness, and a clearer way forward.

Sometimes the greatest source of distress isn't a single event, it's the feeling that you keep living the same story. The same self-doubt. The same relationships. The same ways of coping that no longer serve you. You may know these patterns well, yet still feel unable to change them. You may have spent years trying to understand yourself. You've read the books, listened to the podcasts, talked things through with friends, and perhaps even been to therapy before. Meaningful change begins with understanding. Therapy offers the opportunity to slow down and make sense of those patterns.

In life, we face many challenges that affect us on different levels. These may include stress, chronic pain, depression, anxiety, trauma and many others. How we deal with these challenges is important so that we can be mentally and physically healthy and live fulfilling lives. Sometimes, we just need someone to lend an ear and other times we need a professional to guide us in our process of healing. When working with clients, I believe that each client has the internal resources that can facilitate change and that thorugh a safe and non - judgmental space this can be achieved.

You may be self-aware, capable, and have spent years trying to understand yourself, yet still feel anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected, or caught in the same patterns. I work with women over 40 who sense there is more to them than the roles, expectations, pain, and stories they have carried. Together, we explore what lies beneath these patterns, so you can remember who you are beneath the conditioning, pain, and stories that caused you to forget and begin your return to yourself.

Life, from time to time, can become a struggle for all of us, and often we feel the desire to reach out for some understanding or companionship. However, we still live in an age where seeking support or help is often regarded as a sign of weakness. I believe the complete opposite. To seek out help and support in your darkest hours in order to better understand yourself and overcome your difficulties is a sign of true bravery and courage. By reaching out, you take the first courageous step toward healing, growth, and reclaiming your inner strength.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Counsellors
How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.
What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.
Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine, fluoxetine, and sertraline, among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.
Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
