You might be feeling overwhelmed, stressed, or a little stuck right now—and that’s okay. Life can be a lot. Whether you’re facing anxiety, low mood, relationship challenges, or a big life change, you don’t have to go through it alone. I offer a safe, supportive space where you can talk openly and feel truly heard, without judgement. Sometimes it starts with a good chat and a good cup of coffee. Together, we’ll gently explore what’s going on, build resilience, and find healthier ways to cope—so you can move forward with more clarity, confidence, and wellbeing.

Are you facing challenges related to your sexuality or life in general? Sexuality is a deeply personal and authentic aspect of our identity, rooted in our heritage, values, and individual experiences. It encompasses our gender roles, sexual orientation, intimacy, pleasure, and even the legacy of how we connect with ourselves and others. Life, too, with its highs and lows, from career struggles to financial stress, addiction, and more, can challenge our sense of self and sustainability.

I am also working short-term in mindfulness-based therapy (12 - 15 sessions), which is indicated for anxiety, and requires a commitment to between session practice at home.
It takes some courage to take the decision to come to psychotherapy. You may have experienced a sudden painful disruption in your life which has thrown into question your beliefs about your relationships, yourself and the world, creating a loss of safety. Or perhaps the difficult feelings have been building over time, but you can no longer push them out of mind and tell yourself to bear it and carry on. It can feel both hopeful and frightening to come to therapy. The thought of talking about very personal things to a stranger is understandably anxiety provoking and the need for emotional safety to do so, is essential.

I truly believe that every human being needs a counsellor at some point(s) in life, because life is hard and the list of problems a person can face - and the impact those problems can have - is, seemingly, endless. Needing or wanting help to live a meaningful and fulfilling life is a natural and healthy response. Please know that it is possible.

As an IFS-trained-practitioner I support individuals and couples who feel overwhelmed, anxious, burnt out, stuck in repeating patterns, or disconnected from themselves. Many clients come during life transitions, relationship challenges, or when coping strategies no longer feel effective. In our work, I help you slow down, understand your inner emotional world, and meet difficult thoughts and feelings with compassion rather than judgment. Using an IFS-informed approach, we explore the different parts of you that carry stress or protection, so patterns begin to soften and you can reconnect with clarity, steadiness, and self-trust.

You may be self-aware, capable, and have spent years trying to understand yourself, yet still feel anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected, or caught in the same patterns. I work with women over 40 who sense there is more to them than the roles, expectations, pain, and stories they have carried. Together, we explore what lies beneath these patterns, so you can remember who you are beneath the conditioning, pain, and stories that caused you to forget and begin your return to yourself.

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Counsellors
How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.

When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?
If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behaviour through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?
This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviours and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.

Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioural habits.
