At the Teddy Bear Clinic for Abused Children I have gained experience on rape/ sexual abuse and testifying in a criminal court for 5yrs.
I am passionate about seeing lives changed and clients reaching their full potential, even though there may seem to be no hope. In my sessions I view every individual as unique and do not treat my clients with a “one size fits all approach” I believe that even though clients may have similar problems their experience and the way they view their problems are different from others.

Most people still believe trauma to be something only suffered by those who have experienced war, sexual abuse and other catastrophic events.
As a Root Cause Therapist, my ideal client is a self-aware individual struggling with persistent emotional patterns, often feeling stuck in cycles of anxiety, relationship challenges, or unresolved childhood trauma. They're motivated to explore deep-seated beliefs, understand their unconscious triggers, and transform generational emotional wounds. They seek genuine healing, not just symptom management, and are willing to courageously examine their inner landscape, committed to personal growth and emotional liberation.

Childhood sexual abuse and dealing with trauma
The patient therapist fit is extremely important. No holding or containment can take place until the patient feels safe.I am caring and compassionate and my patients feel contained and feel accepted and safe in the space. Many of them have been through severe trauma and pain and this very often is converted into bodily pain.I have helped several patients in their struggle with chronic pain.

I offer counselling and therapeutic life coaching. Clients will come to me with a range of problems and often feel some confusion. In our work we will clarify the problem and see what is most challenging for you at the present time. We will discover where this confusion arises in the body and mind and be able to see what started it. Perhaps this has been triggered in the past: by an environment, people, a person, upbringing etc. The work we do is non-judgemental and my purpose is to help you find your way out of the confusion and suffering, so you can find success, purpose and meaning in your life. I will be with you all the way

Sexual Abuse Counsellors

How do therapists treat sexual abuse?

A good therapist will be nonjudgmental and possibly demonstrate active listening, repeating back what the client says to show that they have understood. These skills allow people to feel comfortable discussing their traumatic experiences openly. Some important treatment goals are to restore a sense of safety and to rebuild confidence. In addition to working one-on-one with the patient, a therapist might bring in supportive family members to assist the client.

Do you have to talk extensively about sexual abuse in therapy?

Survivors frequently find it difficult to describe what happened to them out loud. They can even still be in a state of denial if the sexual abuse occurred recently. It is important for survivors to acknowledge that what happened isn’t their fault and to challenge and reappraise any unhealthy feelings or thoughts as they arise. Art therapy and play therapy are useful non-verbal means of communication for some survivors.

How long does treatment for sexual abuse take?

Recovery from sexual abuse can be a long and difficult process. Some survivors are able to move on naturally on their own, given time, while others require the guidance of a trained therapist. Therapy needs vary and can range from a few sessions to months or even years. Healing from sexual abuse takes time, and everyone’s journey will look a little different.

Can trauma symptoms caused by sexual abuse come back after treatment?

As occurs in many cases of trauma, survivors of sexual abuse may experience PTSD-like symptoms long after the abuse has ceased or after an initial round of treatment has occurred. In such a case, there is evidence that prolonged exposure therapy is a useful treatment for survivors, and may be more efficacious than supportive counseling alone. While triggers may continue to cause distress, the idea is that, with time and repeated exposure, their power will fade, allowing survivors to move on with their lives.
