I am passionate about helping people and guiding them to become better versions of themselves. My one focus is Women’s overall wellness; in ALL aspects of her life and in turn, a positive effect on her relationships. Her sexuality, self-esteem, emotions, intuitions, sensations, experiences.......; all uniquely intertwined, that makes her distinctively “Her!” You have a life story; not only comprising of your past but also connecting your dreams and expectations for the future and then the current reality of your present.

I work with people of all ages – children, adolescents and adults – dealing with a range of psychological and psychiatric difficulties that include, but are not limited to, depression, anxiety , trauma and changes in mood. My passion lies in working with adolescents and young adults, providing a space where my clients are able to engage freely from a position of safety. I also have a keen interest in working with victims of cybercrime related to extortion. My belief around running my practice is quality over quantity, as I place significant value on both the time I can offer my clients and a deep engagement in the overall process.

As a clinician and psychotherapist, I see people as unique beings trying their best in life. Challenges come because they find themselves stuck and disconnected from the world. In this way, ineffective patterns are formed between themselves and their systems (i.e. families, social, culture, religion, work, etc.). My initial goal is to understand my clients/patients from their point of view without making assumptions. From there, we move together to create a context for change. Treatment of disorders includes Depression, anxiety , trauma-related disorders, Grief/loss, relationship problems, and others.

“You will never be able to escape from your heart so it is better to listen to what it has to say.” True connection between a psychologist and a client can bring profound personal growth. A platform can be created for the client to give life to their heart’s yearning – be it a desire to deal with trauma, to improve interpersonal relationships, to navigate through difficult phases of life or even to develop emotional intelligence. When consulting with a psychologist a channel is created for you to hear the true language of your heart.

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
