Hi! I am Ashley Lourens, a mental health and wellbeing counsellor. I graduated from Stellenbosch University with an Honours (Cum Laude) degree in Psychology and have been working as a counsellor for more than 7 years. I work with men, women and teens struggling with relationships, trauma, addiction, burnout, anxiety, depression and chronic illness. I have a special interest in women's health. Particularly, women struggling with PMDD.
I support adolescents and adults facing difficulties through an integrated and trauma-informed perspective. Integrating counselling with other modalities, such as somatic work, guided meditation and visualisation, art and creative tools.
I too had to walk a path of healing. The client-counsellor relationship that I experienced supported my healing in ways I could never have thought possible. I learned the theoretical knowledge at university but only believed in the process once I had experienced it myself. Then I started to see the process unfold for my clients.
