As a neuropsychologist and psychotherapist, I started 'Maia Psychology' to help people understand themselves, through a blend of neuroscience and psychology.
My practice is named after the ancient Sanskrit concept "Maia", meaning 'the illusory magic of the universe appearing'. For me, Maia really refers to our fundamental ability (and inability) to perceive ourselves, others, and the world around us. This is what psychology is ultimately all about.
I named my practice after this concept to emphasise my wish to nurture a truly holistic neuropsychological practice; one that seriously considers all that makes you who you are.
As a neuropsychologist, I provide tailored, patient-specific neuropsychological assessments for people who may have neurodiversity, acquired brain injury, or other kinds of neurologically-related conditions. My psychotherapeutic services are informed by a blend of neuroscience and psychology, well suited to anyone seeking to nurture self-understanding.
Neuropsychological assessment and psychotherapy can be a daunting prospect. But, really, all of this is just another way to take a person seriously. Someone once told me that going to therapy is like exploring a deep and dark cave – where you hold the light, and the therapist holds your hand. I would be honoured to hold your hand.
