Interesting!
I was kicked out of my family of origin in my early 30s. I wasn't going along with "the rules". Family therapy would have been met with contempt. My husband and children I were complately cut off, but I feel like it was a gift in hindsight.
Through the years I heard through "the switchboard" what was happening in the family and of course, that I found out that I was written out of the will. I was dead to them, but they were still curious about me.
It was a traumatic experience for me and I recommend therapy to navigate the process of family estrangement.
