How We Can Help
Our professional counseling staff can help with a wide variety of presenting problems, stressors and issues for people of all ages. Our staff includes Clinical Psychologists, Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists and Licensed Professional Counselors who provide individualized services tailored to meet the specific needs and preferences of each client. Family Service therapists offer a wide range of specialties including EMDR, mindfulness, emotional regulation skill-building, EAP services, child and family therapy, Narrative Attachment Therapy, Trauma Therapy, psychotherapy to child victims of trauma and abuse, play, art and sand tray therapy, Christian counseling, couple psychotherapy and many more services to adults, teens and children ages 3-older adult. We schedule appointments during the day or in the evening. We participate in most insurance plans including Medicaid and Medicare and are contracted providers in most network plans. Cash pay arrangements are available for people who are uninsured. Call the office to arrange a meeting with one of our therapists.
Our Purpose and Mission
Since 1964, Family Service of Waukesha has been providing counseling services to individuals and families who reside or work in Greater Waukesha County. We strive to improve individual, family and community well-being through a range of services that address emotional wellness, abuse and domestic violence.
Other Programs and Services
Family Service of Waukesha provides outpatient counseling at three clinic locations in Waukesha and Oconomowoc. In addition to counseling services, the agency offers several other programs and services. The Center for Prevention of Family Violence provides psycho-educational group treatment to men and women who have been violent in an intimate partner relationship, who struggle with anger management or who are placing children at risk due to violent, angry behavior in the home. The Cooperative Family and Parenting Center provides groups and classes to help divorcing families maintain a cooperative parenting relationship focused on the best interest and needs of children. The C.A.R.E. Center provides forensic interviews, forensic medical exams and family advocacy as part of the community's child abuse investigatory process. Consumer Credit Counseling Service helps financially burdened families manage debt and avoid bankruptcy through pre-bankruptcy counseling and the development debt management plans.

New Directions
12 week anger management group to help men and women develop appropriate skills for managing anger.
Co-Parenting After Divorce
A 6 week skill building group to help divorced or divorcing parents develop a cooperative parenting relationship based on the needs and best interests of their children.
Rollercoasters
An 8 week group targeting the emotional and relational difficulties experienced by children of divorce. The group helps children understand the typical reactions of family members during the divorce process, that a parental divorce is not their fault, confirms that emotional reactions are normal and helps children develop coping and communication skills. The group emphasizes that although a marriage has ended, children still need both parents to remain involved in their lives.
