Benefits of Medication-Assisted Treatment
At Western Michigan Comprehensive Treatment Center (CTC), we offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for adults age 18 and older who are suffering from opioid addictions. MAT is an evidence-based approach to opioid addiction treatment that can support many positive outcomes for patients. These benefits can include increased treatment retention, improved social functioning, reduced use of prescription painkillers and illicit drugs, and decreased transmission of infectious diseases. Combining prescription medication and counseling, MAT offers patients a comprehensive treatment experience. The medications that are available in MAT can ease the challenges of ending opioid use by relieving withdrawal symptoms and reducing opioid cravings. At the same time, these medications may help patients achieve better mental clarity so that they can focus on the recovery process. In our MAT program, this process can include individual and group therapies. These supportive counseling sessions are a key part of MAT at our CTC because they can allow you to address the mental and emotional aspects of opioid addiction recovery.
What to Expect
While some methadone clinics might offer one type of medication for patients, our treatment center can provide methadone, buprenorphine, Suboxone, and naltrexone. To determine the medication and dosage that may be most appropriate for you, our professionals will assess your health and your current and past drug use. During the admissions process, we’ll also work with you to review your treatment goals, understand your treatment history, and create a personalized care plan that aligns with your unique needs and strengths. For each patient, our goal is to treat the whole person, not just the symptoms they may be experiencing. We want to prepare people for ongoing success in recovery through the individualized treatment plans we create. We understand that seeking care for an opioid addiction can be a pivotal and important moment for someone. When you begin, or continue, your recovery journey at Western Michigan CTC, we will make sure that you can ask questions and receive comprehensive information from our dedicated staff.
