Philosophy
Willpower alone does not work because it's a disease. Millions of Americans suffer from food and substance related addictions Their lives are controlled. The alcohol and substances provides "blinders" or control over ones feelings. The food nurtures or comforts feelings. The eating disorder being the most lethal of all psychiatric disorders. Gaining or losing weight becomes the focus of their existence. They often feel guilty, isolated, depressed and ashamed. They may be compulsively overeating, binge purging, or starving themselves. All of the them have one thing in common. They are suffering from an eating disorder, which can be fatal if left untreated. With professional support, lifelong recovery and freedom from an eating disorder, alcohol use, substance use disorders resolution can be achieved. The key to recovery is to understand the cause of the self-destructive behaviors and to acquire the tools to facilitate the necessary changes. This is the core of WD Recovery and Wellness Centers philosophy. We believe that the disorder, has acted as a survival mechanism to help the individual cope with their life. We not only address the mistaken beliefs but also teach each individual new coping techniques to handle life's situations.
IT'S NOT YOUR FAULT YOU'RE NOT ALONE WE CAN HELP
Most treatment programs utilize a reward and punishment system. They take away all your belongings, cell phones, and other things to trap you into their treatment programs. We do not utilize such systems because they are ineffective. Individuals with eating disorders, alcohol use, substance use have spent enough time punishing themselves already. WD Recovery and Wellness Centers approach is centered on the individual. All aspects of the individual's life are explored and addressed in a supportive environment. We do not concentrate solely on the symptoms of the eating disorder, dieting, drugs and or alcohol. Instead, individual, family and group counseling as well as nutritional guidance, exercise training, and educational sessions are all combined to create the path towards recovery. Upon admission to the program a complete one on one assessment process begins. From these evaluations, an individualized treatment plan is developed, which sets the path for the specific direction of the treatment. The treatment team meets weekly to discuss and update each individual's treatment plan. We believe the individual is an integral part of the treatment team process.
