The Wayne State University Psychology Clinic provides a vast array of services to the metro Detroit area. Within a safe, confidential, and professional environment, a variety of clinical services are offered for children, adolescents, and adults. We are able to provide comprehensive psychological assessments to help identify and provide recommendations for ADHD, trauma, learning disabilities, behavioral problems, and personal and relationship difficulties. In addition, we provide therapy to individuals, couples, and families struggling with a variety of concerns, including trauma, depression and anxiety, substance abuse and other addictions, personality and relationship problems, trauma and posttraumatic stress disorder, grief and loss, identity and career conflicts, and trouble accessing or coping with emotions.
Affordable and Effective
Clinical services are provided by Wayne State University doctoral students who are supervised by licensed clinical psychologists faculty. Therefore, clinicians utilize evidenced-based treatment procedures currently being taught in the field of clinical psychology. Additionally, clinicians will be collaborating with supervising psychologists to ensure an unbiased and scientifically-informed approach towards your treatment. As part of the Wayne State University clinical psychology program, the Psychology Clinic is committed to a nonprofit focus. Therefore, all assessment and therapy is offered at a very affordable rate.

The Psychology Clinic is conveniently located on the campus of Wayne State University, directly adjacent to the Detroit Institute of Arts. When you call, you will be asked to provide basic information in order to schedule an initial consultation. This first meeting with your clinician is an opportunity to provide a detailed description of your difficulties, learn more about the services that can be provided, ask any questions about future appointments, and begin the assessment or therapy.

The Wayne State University Psychology Clinic currently offers a Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills group for individuals experiencing extensive problems with emotion dysregulation. DBT Skills Group is divided into four modules: Core Mindfulness, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Emotion Regulation and Distress Tolerance. Modules are aimed at decreasing emotion dysregulation, building coping skills for emotionally challenging situations, promoting effective relationship behaviors, and developing mindfulness skills. Group sessions last two hours and include time spent reviewing members' homework, providing feedback, and learning new skills. This group is in addition to individual therapy, and all members must be currently receiving outpatient individual therapy.

Members of this group receive support from individuals with similar conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, hypoxia, cerebral palsy, and other related medical histories. A wide rage of abilities is represented. Clients learn and practice new ways to cope with their impairments. Additionally, they address challenges to their rehabilitation with help from other members.
