Benefits of Medication-Assisted Treatment
At Waukesha Comprehensive Treatment Center (CTC), we provide high-quality outpatient care for adults age 18 and older who are suffering from opioid addictions. Our center offers medication-assisted treatment, or MAT, which uses prescription medication and counseling to support people as they work to end opioid use, avoid relapse, and sustain long-term recovery. MAT aims to treat the whole person. It provides medication that can relieve the overwhelming cravings and withdrawal symptoms that may occur after you stop using opioids. And it offers counseling that can help with the emotional and behavioral challenges of maintaining your recovery. During individual and group counseling sessions at Waukesha CTC, patients can share their experiences and express their feelings while receiving supportive feedback from skilled professionals. In counseling, patients can also identify support systems and strategies that may help promote success in recovery. People who receive MAT services may improve their ability to find and keep employment as well as enhance their social functioning and increase their treatment retention, among other benefits.
What to Expect
Some methadone clinics might offer one type of medication for patients. However, at our Comprehensive Treatment Center, patients can receive methadone, buprenorphine, Suboxone, or naltrexone as part of their individualized treatment plans. Typically, each patient at our CTC begins with a detailed evaluation, which is designed to inform and guide their treatment plan. As part of this initial evaluation, you’ll also work with our professionals as they assess your health and past and current drug use and recommend a medication and dosage that may be appropriate for you. You’ll also have the chance to learn about the benefits and effects of each medication and ask any additional questions you may have. During your time in MAT, you’ll have the opportunity to build a strong foundation for recovery as well as receive focused support from our qualified staff along the way.
