The Volpicelli Center Treatment Philosophy
Addiction is a multilayered and complex condition. It is a physical, psychological, social, and very personal behavioral disorder. There are many treatment options offered by programs with very different treatment philosophies. All of this can make recovery seem daunting. At a time when the chance of drug overdose for people under 50 is higher that the chance of dying from COVID, we believe that all evidence-based treatment options should be offered. At our center we offer cutting edge addiction treatments led by our founder, Joseph Volpicelli MD, PhD. During his time as a Professor at the University of Pennsylvania, he developed naltrexone to treat people with alcohol addiction. He also developed and wrote a book on how to best integrate psychosocial treatment with medications. We believe that the path to freedom from addiction is to offer the right treatment to the right person at the right time.
