We come to therapy for many different reasons. Maybe we've lost someone close to us. Maybe we feel disempowered and unmotivated at work and at home. Or we're drowning in rage. Or shame. Or fear. Maybe we have a tendency that interrupts our connections with others and our self-growth. Maybe we can't bring our selves to forgive. Or certain memories have hijacked our very being. But the most vital reason we come to therapy is that we want to grow: we have imagined something else and we want change. That in itself is momentous.
Therapy creates a space of learning. In therapy we learn about ourselves: our habits, tendencies, and the ways we approach our relationships and the world. Holistic therapy opens doorways to learning about the ways in which different parts of our selves and our relationships with others are connected. The holistic style of therapy is artful in its approach. It is inclusive and involves the physical, mental, spiritual, communal/social aspects of human beings. Addressing all the parts of the self, holistic therapy supports and empowers. The process of holistic therapy may include exploration of diet, movement/exercise, relaxation, breath, and connection, as well as state of mind. You may learn how to control the breath to relax; you may learn how to focus the mind so that you regain control over tendencies and habits. At Village Center for Holistic Therapy, our therapists will help you make a plan to gradually strengthen your breath, body, relationships, and mind. Together we will develop a simple and direct philosophy of mind that truly belongs to you.

Guided Meditation Class - Free
Shaler, Wednesdays @ 7:15pm. Even though meditation can be a challenging practice, its benefits are many. Meditation can relieve stress and restore mental clarity, as well as encourage compassion for ourselves and others. This guided class will address ways to prepare your body for sitting. We'll also work on developing concentration and an even and smooth breath. Other techniques that may be used in class include visualization, sound therapy, and deep relaxation. Instructor: Abby Ritter; Note: This is a donation-based, "drop in" community class that meets weekly. No prior experience necessary. Please wear comfortable clothing.
