Residential Dual Diagnosis Treatment
Adolescents’ bodies and brains are still developing, so when young people struggle with addictions, they can be negatively impacted in unique ways. Adolescents who have substance use disorders can experience impaired brain development, academic problems, and struggles with interpersonal relationships. They can also be at risk for developing mental health concerns. At Village Behavioral Health, we believe that addressing mental health concerns and addictions together through dual diagnosis treatment can lead to the most optimal results for young people. We offer three dual diagnosis programs that are organized by gender and age group. Our Nova Program serves youths ages 10-12 of all genders who are suffering from mental health concerns and co-occurring addictions. We also have residential programs for teen girls and boys ages 13-17 who need dual diagnosis treatment. Treatment Approach
We believe that effective treatment for young people who are suffering from mental health concerns and co-occurring substance use disorders should be developmentally specific. Our residential program provides age-appropriate addiction treatment for youths ages 10-17. To determine each young person’s needs, our treatment team works to understand their background, symptoms, and home environment. Based on this information, team members design an individualized treatment plan for each adolescent who participates in our residential programs. A dual diagnosis treatment plan may include medical care, medication management services, and therapy sessions that cover topics that are beneficial to young people, such as emotion regulation, coping strategies, and academic pressure. In addition to providing evidence-based care that can help our patients heal, we strive to support their success in the classroom. While participating in our residential program, young people can attend our state-accredited private school, The Village Academy, to keep up with their studies. Our Treatment Center
Village Behavioral Health is located in Louisville, Tennessee, just outside of Knoxville. Our campus is situated on 65 acres of secluded land in the foothills of Great Smoky Mountains National Park on a peninsula of the Tennessee River. Our serene setting provides an ideal therapeutic environment for adolescents to focus on healing. We designed our facility and programming to provide outdoor opportunities for young people that they may not have at a typical residential facility. Our campus has a full ropes course and a swimming pool. For adolescents who are struggling with addictions, there is a 12-Step program on campus called THRIVE that holds regular meetings. Adolescents in our residential programs are separated into groups based on age and gender. They live in open-concept cabins surrounded by the forest and abundant wildlife.
