Youth Care Treatment Center, located in Draper, Utah, provides quality education services for adolescents ages 11-17 who are participating in our residential treatment program.
At Youth Care, we understand how important it is for our students to continue their education while receiving therapeutic interventions. Our academic program is closely tied to each student’s therapeutic behavior modification plan, and their behavior and academic performance determine the kinds of activities and privileges they can enjoy. While enrolled in our academic program, youths can earn educational credits, expand their knowledge, and prepare for the future. Youth Care students participate in a full-day curriculum and attend classes that correspond to their grade level and therapeutic goals. Students can learn valuable skills, such as memorization, assignment tracking, note-taking, and test preparation. Our teachers receive support from on-site psychologists, social workers, and therapists who are available to address mental health concerns outside of academics. Recreational therapists, teacher aides, special educators, and primary teachers meet weekly to assess each student’s progress. Students can also enjoy off-campus field trips, cultural arts activities such as plays, and a variety of hands-on projects like crafts and math manipulatives.

Within the RTC program we strive to provide our residents with tools to cope more effectively with living in society; to provide an opportunity to recover from the effects of trauma; and to increase functioning mentally, emotionally, socially, educationally, spiritually, and physically, with the ultimate goal of family re-unification and long term emotional stability.
The philosophy of New Beginnings is a multifaceted and collaborative approach based on Cognitive Behavior Therapy. Using true client centered methods, interventions and treatments are tailored to focus on patterns of thinking that are maladaptive and the beliefs that undermine such thinking. Our treatment process is two fold: (1) helping our clients make true internal change through exploring and healing emotional scars, while (2) helping our clients extinguish and replace overt behaviors through external modification, resulting in the overall corrective emotional experience.

Throughout the years we have found that long-term recovery is best achieved through long-term treatment in a nurturing and therapeutic environment.
Prescott House is an Arizona state-licensed extended care treatment facility for men. Primarily, our program provides intensive treatment for addictions and other life problems for men who have completed primary treatment. The foundation of our philosophy is based on the principles of Alcoholics Anonymous and other 12-step programs. Length of stay, which varies considerably and is dependent upon client progress, averages between four and seven months as a resident. Each client will participate in over 18 hours of group therapy weekly. Clients will also be assigned a primary therapist with whom they will have weekly individual and group sessions. Later in treatment our clients will secure a part time job, volunteer commitment, or enrollment in school. Our program is community-oriented and clients attend local 12-step meetings on a daily basis. They will also work with a 12-step sponsor and become part of a larger recovery community. Our clients develop strong friendships within the Prescott House program as well, residing in apartment-style living quarters, purchasing their own groceries, and preparing their own meals.

In the first phase, students are assessed and stabilized; in the second phase they are treated, and in the third and final phase, they transition into independence. Sunrise is the only adolescent and teen girls, boys, and LGBTQ+ residential treatment center that offers all three on their campus. Sunrise also offers around-the-clock care in a safe, home-like environment, helping teens facing suicidal thoughts, self-harm, or other mental health challenges. We focus on family-centered healing with a firm belief that parents are integral to the healing process at our residential treatment center, with consistent communication and family involvement to rebuild trust and connection. Our residential treatment is DBT-focused and is backed by treatment outcomes that show how our RTC helps teens decrease anxiety, depression, and distress.

And although this is quite standard for residential, certainly our goal is to not our clients inside throughout the day.
EVNSQ was our first choice for some very specific reasons. First, many of us in recovery, more so in early recovery, think of ourselves as either being worse than or better than everyone else, which is one of the reasons why humility is such a big deal in 12-Step programs. It seems to be a zero-sum game we live by. At EVNSQ, we take a person where he’s at, regardless of what brought him to us or where he wants to go from here. Everyone is on an EVEN playing field, no better, and certainly, no worse. This is important to our philosophy because beginning treatment in the here-and-now allows a man to SQUARE up to his life, SQUARE up to those who love him, and most importantly, get SQUARE with himself.
