Medication-assisted treatment, or MAT, is a dynamic approach that incorporates prescription medication and counseling to help adults whose lives have been disrupted by opioid addiction. Decades of research has documented both the safety and effectiveness of MAT. The medication component of MAT can make it easier for people to stop using opioids without experiencing severe withdrawal symptoms. This is a significant benefit, as the distress of opioid withdrawal can make it quite difficult for someone to end their opioid use on their own. Another benefit of MAT is that the length of time people use medications can be adapted according to their needs and preferences. Some MAT patients take medication for a relatively brief period of time, while others continue to do so for several months or even years. In addition to taking medication, MAT patients also take part in counseling sessions. Counseling can help adults address the psychological, social, and behavioral aspects of opioid addiction and recovery. Detox is the process of getting the drugs or alcohol out of the system and treating any uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms that may occur. The amount of time a client remains in our detox varies on a number of factors. These includes the severity of the dependency or addiction, what amounts of certain drugs are in the system, the type of drug and how long it takes to get medically stabilized. Medical detoxification involves administering and prescribing a series of medications to help minimize withdrawal and cravings, and constant assessment from medical professionals.

At Youth Care Treatment Center, we understand that adolescents have unique needs when it comes to behavioral health treatment. At our campus, we offer age-appropriate care through our adolescent partial hospitalization program (PHP) in Draper, Utah. We provide treatment for young people who are struggling with anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), conduct disorders, and attachment disorders. Adolescents ages 13-18 can participate in our PHP and receive targeted therapeutic interventions for nine hours per day, five days per week. This treatment option is ideal for young people who don’t require round-the-clock residential care but would still benefit from intensive therapies. At Youth Care, we understand that every young person's healing journey is unique. Therefore, we believe in personalizing their treatment plan as much as possible. Every adolescent’s experience is different, but most young people participate in our PHP for four to five months. In our PHP, adolescents can engage in several different therapies, such as individual therapy up to three times a week, family therapy once a week, and daily group therapies.
