At The Refuge, A Healing Place, we provide residential programming for adults age 18 and older who are struggling with substance use disorders, eating disorders, and mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and self-harming behaviors. Treatment in our adult residential program typically lasts a minimum of 30 days, but a client's unique needs and circumstances determine their actual length of stay. Clients in residential treatment receive personalized care to aid in their healing journeys. Treatment is delivered by an expert team that is comprised of counselors, psychologists, psychiatrists, registered dietitians, medical doctors, registered nurses, certified nursing assistants, equine therapists, and certified trauma therapists. We strive to treat clients with empathy and respect while encouraging them to pursue happier, healthier lives.

Covington Behavioral Health Hospital is a premier provider of comprehensive inpatient programming for adults who are struggling with mental health concerns and substance use disorders. Our inpatient treatment services are designed for patients age 18 and older who have been experiencing symptoms of mental health disorders such as bipolar disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), schizophrenia, and schizoaffective disorder. Meeting the unique personal needs of each patient is a priority at our hospital. That’s why each person who is admitted to our inpatient program completes a thorough medical and psychological assessment. We then create a personalized treatment plan that may include a variety of clinical services, such as basic medical care, medication management services, detoxification, individual therapy, multiple types of group therapy, and family therapy. We also develop detailed discharge plans to promote continued progress after a patient has completed their stay with us. Patients typically remain in our inpatient treatment program for five to seven days.

At Longleaf Hospital, we offer an intensive outpatient program (IOP) for adults age 18 and older whose lives have been disrupted by mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). We also support those who are struggling with addictions to substances like opioids, alcohol, and cocaine. This program can be beneficial for people who need a more structured therapeutic schedule than they would receive in traditional outpatient therapy but don’t require the round-the-clock care of inpatient treatment. In an IOP, people take part in programming for about half the day most of the week, which offers them the flexibility to carry on with their daily lives with fewer interruptions. This schedule also gives them the chance to practice the skills they are learning in therapy in real-life settings and then get feedback in group and one-on-one counseling sessions. While everyone heals at their own pace, most people participate in the IOP at our hospital in Alexandria, Louisiana, for about two to six weeks. We evaluate everyone individually to decide the best time for them to transition to the next step on their healing journey.

Covington Behavioral Health Hospital, which is located in Covington, Louisiana, provides an intensive outpatient program (IOP) for adults age 18 and older. Our IOP serves people who have anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), or other mental health concerns. A person may step down to our IOP to receive additional support after they have completed our inpatient program, or they can enter directly at the IOP level. This level of care is designed for people who do not need full days of treatment or round-the-clock support. A typical day includes three hours of therapy, plus lunch. Most clients attend IOP sessions two or three days per week. When they are not taking part in IOP sessions, participants may go to school, work, volunteer, and otherwise engage in a healthy independent lifestyle. This schedule allows people to learn new skills they can practice in a real-world environment and improve during future IOP sessions. Typical length of stay is four to 12 weeks.

The adult inpatient program at River Place Behavioral Health serves patients age 18 and older who are experiencing acute symptoms of mental health concerns. These concerns can include depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), bipolar disorder, and suicidal ideation. Our programming also supports people who are battling an addiction in addition to a primary diagnosis of a mental health disorder. Adults in our inpatient program usually remain in our care for about five to 10 days, though this can vary depending on their needs. Group therapy is typically a major focus of our acute services, and adults must be able to participate in group therapy sessions to take part in our inpatient program. Social workers, counselors, nurses, and behavioral health technicians typically lead our daily group therapy programming. In addition to attending regular group sessions with our qualified staff members, adults in our inpatient program can participate in individual and family therapies. Additionally, we offer art, music, and movement-based therapies to provide a well-rounded and holistic treatment experience.

When this happens, they may need crisis intervention services to help them feel more stable again. Longleaf Hospital provides inpatient treatment for adults age 18 and older who are suffering from intense symptoms of mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). We also support people who are struggling with addictions to substances like alcohol, cocaine, and benzodiazepines. Before a person starts any treatment at Longleaf, we evaluate their needs to ensure that hospitalization is right for them. This level of care is usually best for someone who needs round-the-clock support, and it is often a short-term experience because the goal is for the person to step down to a lower level of care or safely return home. While everyone heals at their own pace, the typical length of an inpatient stay at Longleaf is about seven to 10 days depending on each person’s individual progress.

Vermilion Behavioral Health Systems, located in Lafayette, Louisiana, is an adult outpatient treatment center offering care for adults age 18 and older who are struggling with mental health concerns and co-occurring addictions. Our Visions outpatient program includes a partial hospitalization program (PHP), which is available to patients as either a step-down service after inpatient care or as a stand-alone treatment option. Our PHP typically runs for six weeks, and patients can attend programming five days a week. Some of the concerns we treat in our Visions PHP include bipolar disorder, anxiety, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), grief, anger, and impulse control difficulties. PHP patients have access to weekly psychiatric services and can receive medication management from psychiatrists, nurses, and other clinicians if appropriate.
