About
Our Mission
Trails Carolina was created to help families reconnect and heal. Trails Carolina is a wilderness therapy program for pre-teens and adolescents ages 10-17. The clinically sophisticated and time-tested program engages students through wilderness therapy, mindfulness and yoga, equine assisted therapy, intentional transitions, and academic engagement. Recent outcome research demonstrates efficacy. For additional information about Trails Carolina, located just outside of Asheville, North Carolina, please call 828-471-0761.
Our Values
Our leading values are Trust, Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Leadership, Service. These also make up our therapeutic phases. Students have workbooks that include thought-provoking assignments and are expected to practice and demonstrate these values.
Wilderness Therapy
Trails Carolina is an industry leader with outcome data that demonstrates program efficacy. Trails uses the proven elements of wilderness therapy, clinical theory and evidenced-based psychotherapies with a residential and academic base camp to create a program that is clinically driven and results focused. Students join single-gender, age-appropriate groups that meet their developmental, emotional and mental health needs. Each group is led by an experienced, licensed therapist. Removed from the distractions of screens, peers and everyday modern life, students gain personal insight, build self-esteem, learn and practice new skills for living a heathier and more rewarding life. Our academic program address students’ academic challenges that may be causing them to underperform in school. Parents are also actively involved in our comprehensive, integrated family systems programming. Research shows a strong correlation between increased family involvement and long-term success. Trails Carolina was created to help families reconnect and heal.
