About
Detox
Withdrawal from drugs or alcohol is an uncomfortable and distressing process that can prevent someone from seeking professional help for addiction. Tower Behavioral Health is an inpatient treatment center in Reading, Pennsylvania, that offers many services for adults who are struggling with addictions to drugs or alcohol. One of these services is detoxification (detox), which is designed to help people safely rid their bodies of substances. Detox can lessen the symptoms of withdrawal while also offering patients the support they need as they start the therapeutic process. Patients who participate in the detox program at our treatment center get round-the-clock support from an experienced team that specializes in treating people who are battling addictions. These experts create an individualized treatment plan based on a person’s needs and goals, and they work closely with each patient as they transition through detox and to the next level of care. We want to help people stop using substances with minimal discomfort while teaching them the skills necessary for lasting recovery.
What to Expect
The detox services at Tower Behavioral Health are provided by a team of highly skilled professionals, including psychiatrists, physicians, nurse practitioners, and additional nursing staff. Detox typically lasts between four and seven days, but the actual time a person spends in the program will depend on their specific needs. Most patients will receive nonmedical detox; however, if there are cases where Suboxone or Vivitrol is necessary, our team may be able to include that as part of a person’s treatment plan. If a patient is already taking methadone, we are typically able to accommodate, but that is determined on a case-by-case basis and only when the person is currently part of a maintenance program. While receiving detox services, patients can take part in therapeutic programming if they are physically and medically able. There are a number of different treatment options offered as part of our therapeutic programming, including individual therapy, family therapy, and group therapy. All aspects of treatment are outlined in a person’s individualized treatment plan so that they know what to expect during their time in our care.
Admissions
When a person is struggling with an addiction and is actively suffering from symptoms of withdrawal, we know how important it is for them to receive detox services as soon as possible. That’s why the admissions specialists at Tower Behavioral Health are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to set up assessments. During the admissions process, a member of our staff will conduct an assessment to determine whether our treatment center is the best fit for each prospective patient. This assessment allows our team to gather information about a person’s medical history, their past and current experiences with substance use, and the goals they have for their time in our detox program. Based on the results of this assessment, an admission date will be set, and a treatment team will begin outlining the patient’s care plan. If we believe that we won’t be able to meet the patient’s needs, we will refer them to another facility and help them with the transition process.
