At Timberline Knolls, we believe that a combination of evidence-based therapies, a therapeutic environment, and supportive education is key to helping girls heal from eating disorders and other behavioral health concerns. We help our residents continue their studies while they receive care at our residential treatment center. TK Academy can help students progress academically while they focus on healing. Our certified teachers instruct core subjects in small classes, allowing them to work closely with each student. Girls who receive care at Timberline Knolls attend TK Academy every weekday, following the traditional school calendar. We coordinate with our residents’ school districts and parents to ensure that they receive the appropriate credit to stay current with their local educational requirements. At TK Academy, we work hard to create a warm and supportive classroom environment that can encourage students to learn while they receive excellent behavioral healthcare. Therapeutic Support
Our residential treatment center offers exceptional care for girls ages 12-17 who are struggling with eating disorders, substance use disorders, and other mental health concerns. Before entering our care, each person completes a thorough intake evaluation that gives us insight into their history, health, and needs. Every young woman who receives care in our residential program follows an individualized treatment plan. This plan may include nonmedical detox, medication management services, a range of therapies, and meal support. Our therapists provide clinically excellent individual and group counseling for our residents. They use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to help girls develop coping strategies and make healthy lifestyle changes. Group therapy sessions can provide a safe place where girls can share their insights and encourage one another. Common topics we discuss in group therapy sessions include body image, medication education, and food discovery. What To Expect
Timberline Knolls is located on 43 acres of beautiful land in Lemont, Illinois. Our private, wooded campus and lodges provide a sense of serenity and comfort. We group our residents according to age. We know that girls face unique age-specific challenges, so we tailor our care to be developmentally appropriate. We strive to focus on each person individually because we believe that the best care is not one-size-fits-all. We make sure to customize each girl’s treatment plan, adjusting it as needed throughout their healing journey. Girls at our center can meet with a psychiatrist once per week and take part in individual therapy twice weekly, family counseling once weekly, and multiple group therapy sessions daily. Examples of groups we offer include variable, psychoeducation, experiential, and process groups. We also offer many experiential therapies, including art therapy, music therapy, and yoga, to provide a whole-person approach to care.
