The Teen Intensive Model
Designed after Hazelden’s comprehensive evidence-based approach, the Adolescent Substance Abuse Program (ASAP) is an individualized therapeutic treatment experience appropriate for teens ages 13-17 who are experimenting with drugs and alcohol, struggling with early-stage problematic use or have developed dependency. This 16-week intensive after-school program consists of research-based techniques integrated into an approach that includes individual sessions, family sessions, group sessions, Twelve Step and community programs, separate parent and teen substance-education groups and clinical drug testing. Based on the most current clinical findings supporting effective adolescent treatment, the developmental stage, the emotional needs, as well as complex social environments of each teen are considered — including family, school, community and peers. By targeting these core areas of concern, teens develop the knowledge, structure and support to recognize the significance of their use, shift using behaviors towards abstinence and develop skills for sustained recovery. The Teen Intervene Model
Teen Intervene is a short-term and evidenced-based program for teens ages 12 to 19 who display the early stages of substance use problems and is intended for teens exhibiting mild to moderate symptoms associated with alcohol or other drug use. This unique four-session program was created specifically to drive teen engagement and produce positive outcomes including reduced substance use and potential abstinence. As an early-stage treatment option, a harm reduction approach is used to increase teen’s insight and self-awareness. By quickly assessing the risk of the drug or alcohol problem and integrating effective techniques, healthy change is initiated and, if needed, appropriate recommendations are made for further treatment.
