At The OCD & Anxiety Center, we are experienced in working with people of all ages whose anxiety has taken over their lives. Many of our patients have been to several treatment providers but have not achieved the desired results; some believe that their anxiety is "the worst case that anyone has seen" and are afraid that they cannot be helped; some are experiencing anxiety-related problems for the first time in their lives. The treatment team at The OCD & Anxiety Center is skilled at providing effective evidence-based treatments based primarily in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. We help you identify problematic patterns in your life, and we work with you to create an individualized treatment plan that will help you change these patterns. We believe that change happens when challenges are met head-on, so much of the work we do with our patients is exposure-based. We show you how to face your fears in a controlled, gradual way that will have you gaining power over your anxiety before you know it! We treat anxiety wherever it presents itself. If you are afraid of driving, we will be there in the car with you. If you have difficulty leaving the house, or if your anxiety centers around things in your home (such as repeatedly checking locks and stoves, or excessive cleaning), we will come to your house and provide treatment there. We will meet you and your child in the morning to help her beat her anxiety about going to school. Bottom line: If anxiety is there, so are we! What Sets Us Apart
The OCD & Anxiety Center stands out in many ways in addition to those mentioned above. The idea of meeting with a therapist once every week or two is common, and this approach can be helpful for many. But for some individuals, symptoms are so severe that a higher "dose" of treatment is needed for a period of time. In cases such as these, we offer our Personalized Intensive Outpatient Program, meaning that we assemble a treatment team usually comprised of two or more of our therapists in order to provide treatment up to seven days per week. We also involve families, spouses, and other support people/systems (e.g., schools, psychiatrists, clergy) as necessary in order to provide the most comprehensively supportive treatment possible. In our work with children and teenagers, we provide "parent training" to make certain that parents are involved in the treatment process and understand how to implement treatment outside of therapy sessions. Our objective is to provide the support and skills that you or your loved one needs in order to gain the confidence that anxiety, fears, compulsions, and worries can be handled whenever and wherever they happen!!! The OCD & Anxiety Center in Oak Brook strives to reduce the stigma associated with OCD and anxiety by providing individuals and families the opportunity to participate in our professionally-led support groups. Our support groups have the following goals: * To establish a safe, caring environment for group members to provide and receive support * To increase awareness and knowledge of OCD, OC-Related Disorders, and Anxiety Disorders through sharing of educational information and the personal experiences of group members * To obtain information on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention therapy, medications, and other treatment options for OCD and Anxiety Disorders
