Equine Facilitated Pscyhotherapy
HEAL provides equine facilitated psychotherapy services to Adults, Couples, Teens and Adolescents with a focus on active duty Military, Veterans, First Responders or their family members. We are able to accept non-Military clients on a case by case basis depending on our waitlist. Our clients have been impacted by their experiences while serving in the military or first responder communities to include Military Sexual Trauma. They are experiencing depression, anxiety and/or are diagnosed with PTS. Family life may be strained due to feeling disconnected from spouse/children/parent as a result of service related experiences and multiple deployments. Our clients are seeking relief from their symptoms and want to develop coping skills to better manage their emotions and self-soothe. They want to improve their relationships with friends and family and to enjoy a better connected family life. Equine Therapy?
We utilize horses to facilitate sessions with individuals, families and groups conducted by skilled equine specialists and licensed mental health therapists who are trained and certified in the Eagala Model of Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy. Our clients are those who have struggled to connect with traditional therapy and who are interested in goal-oriented, solution focused therapy. Equine therapy is particularly effective at creating metaphors that help clients better understand their interpersonal relationships and to feel connected with their families. Working with horses helps clients learn coping skills to self-soothe, to reduce anxiety and improve communication skills. We want to help empower you to HEAL
HEAL was created to serve the Military, Veteran and First Responder communities of Northern Virginia. We chose these communities due to the great sacrifice they make daily to serve our country while understanding the great burden many Veterans and First Responders carry as a result of their service. The individual, their relationships and family suffer as a result of the impact of deployment and exposure to trauma. Our goal is to provide a safe, supportive and professional therapeutic environment where clients are treated with respect and guided towards healing. Our sessions are confidential and we work with clients to set their treatment goals and work diligently toward them. If you are uninsured, we are able to subsidize the cost of treatment on a sliding scale basis thanks to our 501c3 status and generous donor base. Don't let the cost of therapy prevent you from seeking help. You deserve to get the help and support you need to lead a full and healthy life.
