Arbor Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) Austin
Arbor Intensive Outpatient Program, as part of the Arbor Behavioral Healthcare system, provides unparalleled support for those seeking treatment for substance abuse disorders on an outpatient basis. This program is also well-suited for those suffering a short relapse or who wish additional support after an inpatient treatment program. Arbor IOP is an 8-week, structured outpatient treatment program that is designed to help participants overcome personal issues and barriers to sobriety. Each client receives a highly individualized treatment plan offering a unique blend of evidence-based therapies, experiential workshops, life skills training, spiritual development, 12-step support, vocational support, and family support. Clients receive ten clinical hours per week, including four evening group therapy sessions, and one individual session per week. Random drug testing is conducted.
PhD-led Team of Addiction Professionals
The program is conducted by a PhD-led team of licensed addiction professionals headed by Dr. Brian Samford Ph.D., LMFT, LCDC. All programs within Arbor Behavioral Healthcare, including our IOP, are under the oversight of the same executive, medical, and clinical leadership. This ensures a continuity of care that supports each individual’s needs as they move from our more intensive programs to full independence. We refer to this as a Continuum of Care - an integrated system of care that guides and tracks the client over time, spanning all levels of care and support. Research has shown that success in sobriety improves with longer-term care. Our continuum is designed to support sobriety with programs that provide the best combination of structure, accountability, and support while increasing participants’ level of independence.
Family Participation Component
Our program differs from other outpatient addiction treatment in a number of ways. One primary difference is the level of family support and participation we provide. Research has demonstrated that family involvement and support are important factors for success. Families participate in bi-weekly family therapy sessions, family group night and a family support group. These services are available at no extra cost. Arbor Advocacy - Relapse Prevention
Arbor Advocacy is the relapse prevention program within The Arbor portfolio of addiction treatment programs. We work with clients to develop a personalized plan to help them set goals, and develop maintenance strategies to deal with cravings, emotions, thoughts and other triggers for relapse. Participants meet weekly with a mentor to identify and create a plan to deal with the roadblocks to life long sobriety. Accountability includes: Random toxicology testing, Weekly gender-specific therapeutic process groups, Quarterly experiential workshops, Yoga, Weekly 12-step meetings, and Monthly recreational activities.

Arbor Alumni - 12-Step Group
Arbor Alumni is our free 12-step group that meets every Wednesday evening at 7:30 pm. On the 3rd Wednesday of every month, we celebrate your "birthday" and host a guest speaker. We're a fun group and host a lot of social events including softball tournaments, roller skating nights, and camping trips. We'd love to have you join us.
