Most agree that the first responsibility of a parent is to keep their child safe. When you realize that your son or daughter is taking risks that negatively impact their lives, it is time to reach out for help. In many cases, residential treatment is the best course of action when individual counseling or intensive outpatient programs have failed. Many programs treat negative behaviors or mental health issues. Elk River Treatment Program (ERTP) specializes in dual diagnosis treatment of boys and girls ages 12 - 18. We accept clients from across the United States. Our typical client may be struggling with one or more of the following: risky behaviors, declining grades, poor peer choices, grief/loss, adoption issues, mental illness and/or dependency on alcohol or substances. Our mental health facility is licensed for 60 beds by the State of Alabama Dept. of Youth Services and accredited in Behavioral Health Care by The Joint Commission. While at ERTP, students in grades 6 - 12 attend our accredited school year-round. Many excel in the more intimate classroom setting with one-on-one attention from Highly Qualified and State Certified Teachers.
