Who We Are
The Center For Motivation and Change (“CMC”) Long Island is a unique outpatient private group practice in Long Island staffed by a team of experienced psychologists who are driven by an optimism about people’s capacity to change as well as a commitment to the science of change. Our clinicians are all deeply trained in research-supported therapies that target substance use patterns as well the mental health issues that often accompany these problems such a Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)/complex trauma and anxiety/mood disorders. What We Do
The cornerstone of our clinical approach is motivational: Helping people change must include each individual finding personal and compelling reasons for change, as well as a pathway they can truly endorse. While there are clear and specific tools (e.g., CBT, DBT, mindfulness) to be used in making change, they are not effective unless you have made the often very difficult decision to use them. In providing a respectful and challenging focus on personal motivation and values, CMC clinicians help clients find and engage in a change process that is life-enhancing and long-lasting. We can honestly say that every client at CMC is engaged in a treatment process that is designed specifically for them. Services range from group therapy to weekly individual therapy, substance specific programming as well as treatment options that address trauma, relationship issues, anxiety and depression. The family services are equally flexible and concerned significant others can participate in a range of services regardless of whether their loved on is in treatment with us or not.
