About

About Harbor Oaks Hospital

At Harbor Oaks, we believe each one of our patients is capable of change and that mental illnesses and addictions are very treatable concerns. Each programming option we offer includes evidence-based therapeutic interventions and treatment modalities that are proven effective in changing people's lives for the better. Whether it is you, your child, spouse, or other loved one who is in need of treatment, our staff of compassionate clinical professionals will do all that they can to ensure that you or someone you care about receives the most appropriate care available. These same professionals broach the treatment of mental health disorders and substance abuse in a holistic manner, taking into account the emotional, psychological, spiritual, and social wellbeing of each patient. Symptoms and addictions are not the focus of the treatment at Harbor Oaks Hospital, but rather the patient and what he or she requires of us in order to move forward in life is where our treatment planning process stems from. In choosing Harbor Oaks Hospital for treatment, you will be welcomed as if you are a member of our family, respected and care for, with your dignity preserved for the duration of your time with us.

Signs and Symptoms of Addiction

The powerful constraints of an addiction can quickly ravage a person's entire life. Close friends and loved ones who suspect that someone they care about is grappling with such a concern can note the presence of some signs and symptoms if there is doubt as to whether or not addiction is a factor in a person's life. Reliant on the type of substance that the person is addicted to, as well as the longevity of the addiction, some telling indicators that person has an addiction include that individual engaging in dangerous acts in order to obtain more of a given substance or missing school or work in order to abuse a substance. Furthermore, those in the throes of their addictions often display changes in their appearances as their addictions worsen. Often due to malnourishment, lack of proper sleep, and the lack of attention to personal hygiene, people addicted to substances may look sickly or disheveled to others. Recognizing these signs and symptoms and encouraging a person with an addiction to seek treatment is necessary in order to help save that individual's life from the fatal effects of chemical dependency.

Treatment Options at Harbor Oaks Hospital

Men and women who require the life-saving care needed to overcome addictions to drugs and/or alcohol can benefit from the chemical dependency treatment supplied by Harbor Oaks Hospital. Adults, aged 18 or older, can engage in this hospital's chemical dependency inpatient treatment as a preliminary step towards long-term recovery. This treatment option includes medically-monitored detoxification services and 24-hour supervision and support from medical and mental health staff. Programming includes psychoeducation opportunities, individual therapy sessions, meetings with an addictions specialist, family therapy, group therapy, and medication management services. Once a man or woman completes Harbor Oaks Hospital's chemical dependency inpatient care, he or she can then partake in this hospital's adult substance abuse intensive outpatient program (IOP). This option for care meets three days per week, includes many of the same treatment methods featured in inpatient treatment, and provides patients with an abundance of support as the road to long-term recovery is navigated.
