Program Overview
Stetson School is a COA accredited, Residential and Education Treatment program, which is fully licensed by the Massachusetts Departments of Early Education and Care, and Elementary and Secondary Education. We serve young men, ages 9-22, who have problematic behaviors, sexually reactive behaviors, complex developmental difficulties, chronic mental illness and other behavioral issues. Stetson supports young men who have suffered from severe trauma, have histories of physical, emotional and/or sexual abuse and who may have had disrupted living arrangements or placements. We specialize in flexible, family-driven treatment, safety, stabilization and assessment. We develop an alliance with the family and work to strengthen those supports to enable a safe return to the community. Our beautiful country setting provides a therapeutic, safe and secure placement for young men, which promotes accountability and healing.
Theraputic Services
Stetson offers intensive residential and education care, intensive group home, and community group home services in three different programs located in central Massachusetts. Therapeutic programming is based on a 40 week Core Foundation Model clinically focusing on individual, group and family work as well as the completion of specific treatment elements ensuring timely return to the community. Psycho-social assessments are completed within 30-days of intake, and risk assessments and community based family work are on-going throughout treatment. Each youth works with a treatment team consisting of a clinician, case/care manager, team administrator, teacher, and residential advocate who are responsible for overseeing the progress made on treatment and education goals. When needed, psychopharmacological services are also provided, which are overseen by a board certified child and adolescent psychiatrist, who works closely with our clinical team and nursing department. Occupational therapy, animal assisted therapy, and functional behaviors assessment services are also available. Youth participate in multiple milieu groups, including, but not limited to: recreation, life skills, social skills, and anger management. Strong transitional services are also provided, including college preparation, as well as on and off campus vocational/pre-vocational opportunities.
Theraputic Orientation
Our ACORN® Model of Care is rooted in attachment theory, is trauma informed, and focuses on individual needs, strengths, and interests. It is an integrated, evidence informed treatment model which focuses on assessing needs and reduction of risk, to ensure safe reintegration to community and accommodates and treats the majority of childhood mental health diagnoses. Services are provided within a relational milieu, that is family driven and supportive.
