Inpatient Treatment
Located in Dartmouth, Massachusetts, Southcoast Behavioral Health is a premier provider of inpatient treatment for children and adolescents ages 5-17. Our expert staff provides care for young people who are struggling with mental health concerns like depression, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), psychosis, suicidal ideation, and self-harm. In our adolescent inpatient program, we can help young people who are experiencing mental health crises stabilize so that they can step down to a lower level of care or return home. While in our inpatient unit, children and adolescents can receive focused care in a safe setting so that they can regain a sense of security and well-being. Our multidisciplinary staff provides evidence-based, patient-centered treatments such as motivational interviewing, dialectical behavior therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy. The typical length of stay in our adolescent inpatient program is around five to seven days, though the actual time each person spends in our care depends on their needs. Treatment Approach
Because children and adolescents go through emotional and physical changes, we believe that developmentally appropriate care can help them achieve optimal results. At Southcoast, we provide age-specific services for youths who have mental health concerns. Each young person who participates in our inpatient programming completes a thorough evaluation that can help us learn about their background, symptoms, and support system. Using this information, we design the patient’s treatment plan. A patient’s treatment plan may include group therapy sessions, medical care, and medication management services, which consists of a daily meeting with a psychiatrist and monitoring by our team of nurses. Members of our multidisciplinary staff lead group therapy sessions, which cover age-appropriate topics such as emotion regulation, family dynamics, and coping strategies. Family meetings are held as needed with the patient’s treatment team to update family members on their loved one’s progress and support needs. Our Treatment Center
