The Behavioral Medicine and Wellness Center
The Behavioral Medicine and Wellness Center (BMWC), a service of Salem Regional Medical Center, offers specialized outpatient treatment and support for adults facing a range of mental health issues. The program serves as a link in the continuum of care for individuals who need more intensive therapy than traditional outpatient care, but do not require admission to an inpatient facility. The program does not replace an individual's current outpatient treatment, but rather serves to enhance the client's existing plan of care when further intervention is needed. We serve adults 18 years and over with a variety of mental health diagnoses. Clients must be cognitively and emotionally capable of participating in group therapy, and should demonstrate a reasonable expectation for improvement in their diagnosis and level of functioning. Programming
Two levels of care are offered. At the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) level, individuals attend 5 days a week from 9am - 1:30pm. At the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) level, clients attend up to four days a week from 9am-12:00pm. Treatment planning is individualized and based on each person's specific needs and goals. Referrals to the BMWC at Salem Regional Medical Center can be made by health care providers, mental health agencies, case managers/discharge planners, crisis teams, employee assistance programs, family members, and individuals themselves. Each level of programming offers clients strategies for understanding and coping with their illnesses, with the goal of optimizing their quality of life, improving their daily functioning and preventing inpatient hospitalization. Services, which are provided by an experienced staff of qualified health care professionals in a safe, comfortable and supportive environment, include: group therapy, individual and/or family therapy as needed, medication management, nursing interventions, and aftercare planning. Programming runs from 9am - 1:30pm daily, allowing clients to spend evenings in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes. Local transportation is available at no cost. The cost of the program is covered by most insurance plans and Medicare. Tours are available anytime between 8am - 4pm.
