Adolescent Inpatient Treatment
Located in Springfield, Missouri, Lakeland Behavioral Health System offers an acute inpatient treatment program for children and adolescents ages 4-17 who are suffering from mental health and emotional concerns. During their time with us, young people can benefit from the combined experience of our mental health and medical professionals. These professionals include physicians, registered nurses, social workers, psychiatrists, therapists, and behavioral health technicians. Because adolescence is a time of significant emotional and physical change, it’s essential for a young person’s care to be developmentally appropriate. Our teams specialize in delivering age-specific treatment that can help each young patient thrive at home, in school, and in their community. Because each young person has different needs, we don’t predetermine a specific length of stay in our adolescent inpatient program. Our team evaluates each youth’s progress on a regular basis to determine how long they should continue participating in programming. Adult Inpatient Treatment
Our adult inpatient program, the HOPE program, serves senior adults age 60 and older who have mental health concerns and co-occurring substance use disorders. This program offers age-specific care that addresses the concerns a person may face in the later stages of life, such as Alzheimer’s disease, depression, dementia, and suicidal ideation. Our goal is to help each patient stabilize and prepare them to step down to a less intensive level of care. Structured inpatient treatment can provide a foundation for each person’s healing process. In our adult inpatient program, seniors can participate in evidence-based therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Therapists use CBT to help people identify and change negative thought processes that may impact their mental health. We also offer daily group counseling sessions that give patients the chance to support each other and learn about topics such as life skills, coping strategies, and boundaries. Our Treatment Center
We offer our inpatient programs at our acute hospital on South Market Avenue in downtown Springfield, Missouri. Our acute treatment center is a historic building that has newly renovated units and patient areas for the children, adolescents, and senior adults we serve. We also have an updated gym, two outdoor spaces for recreation, a swimming pool, and a cafeteria. Patients in our child, adolescent, and adult inpatient programs complete thorough evaluations that can help us create customized treatment plans. These plans can include biweekly individual therapy sessions, weekly family therapy sessions, and group therapy sessions three times daily. In addition, patients can participate in experiential therapies like art, music, and pet therapies, offered twice daily. If needed, patients can receive medical care and medication management services, which can include three weekly meetings with a psychiatrist, physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant.
