About

Sanford West Behavioral Health Campus

Formerly Sanford Addiction Treatment Centers, Sanford Behavioral Health is a residential and outpatient addiction, mental health, and eating disorder treatment center located in Greater Grand Rapids, Michigan. Our newest facility, Sanford West Behavioral Health Campus, is located 12 miles from downtown Grand Rapids, in Marne, Michigan. Sanford West is well positioned to treat high acuity patients with an integrated approach to addiction and co-occurring disorders, eating disorders, mental health and medical conditions. All of our programs are backed by a multi-disciplinary team of medical and clinical professionals, and most of our programs are available in-person or via telehealth. Our continuum of care includes: Detox; Residential Treatment, Partial Hospitalization (PHP), Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP); Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) and Medical Management; Outpatient Programs; and one-on-one and family counseling. Sanford West houses the first standalone residential eating disorder treatment center in Michigan. And although it is a big, sprawling campus, program areas are strategically divided into more intimate spaces.

Detox

As part of our full continuum of care, Sanford Behavioral Health provides sub-acute detox treatment for our patients. This includes medically monitored detox for acute withdrawal, as well as withdrawal management, and outpatient support for post-acute withdrawal symptoms. Admission to detox treatment is based on an assessment of a person’s needs, preferences and their likelihood to benefit from medically monitored detox. We provide a medical evaluation within 24 hours of admission which includes a physical examination, orders for appropriate service, face-to-face consultation, and a risk assessment with a personal safety plan. We also complete a comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment as soon as we admit a patient into an appropriate program. In short, medical detoxification (detox) is the process of safely ridding the body of alcohol and/or drugs and managing the resultant withdrawal symptoms.

Comprehensive Treatment for Eating Disorders

The purpose of Sanford CTED residential, is to provide structure, safety and accountability with 24/7 nursing and clinical support. We want to reduce the harmful effects of eating disorders efficiently, and start individuals on their recovery path. We understand that the needs of each individual seeking treatment are unique, and we work with patients to support a safe transition out of residential treatment when the time is right. In the same way we strive to deliver a person-centered and trauma-informed program throughout the recovery process. We treat: Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, Other Specified Feeding and Eating Disorder (OSFED). Program services include individual, family and group therapy, medical evaluation and monitoring, psychiatric support, nutritional therapy provided by a registered dietician, resource referral, and case management.
