About

Sanford Outpatient Center (IOP)

Sanford Outpatient Center is conveniently located on the first floor of the landmark, Grand Rapids, Michigan Masonic Temple. We offer substance use disorder (SUD) and co-occurring mental health disorder treatment to adults 18 or older. At the Outpatient Center, we offer flexible, innovative, individualized recovery programs that are intended for those who have work, child care, school or other obligations. Outpatient treatment allows for the continuation of everyday activities while integrating effective strategies to manage recovery day-to-day. Sanford Outpatient Center is a great place to gather for treatment and community support. We welcome current patients, family and Sanford alumni. We also offer all of our programs via telehealth. All programs are backed by a multidisciplinary team of medical and clinical professionals. Programs and services include partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), outpatient groups, medication management & MAT, multidisciplinary team, alumni & family support, supportive housing for PHP & IOP, in-person & telehealth options.

Real Life Recovery

Sanford offers a complete continuum of care for SUD, including medical detox. However, we built Sanford Outpatient Center to break down the barriers of traditional addiction treatment. Here we offer flexible, innovative, individualized recovery programs that work with real life. When entering a Sanford addiction treatment program, each patient is assessed to determine the appropriate level of care. Our goal, based on our “recovery for real life” philosophy, is to determine a clinically appropriate placement for everyone in the least restrictive level of care. Sanford’s Medication Management combines psychosocial behavioral therapy and pharmacotherapy to treat eating disorders. Treatment includes group, individual, and family therapy along with medical services and medication management. At Sanford, our clinical team uses evidence-based practices in individual and group therapy and collaborates with our medical team. Both medical and clinical teams specialize in substance use disorder treatment.

Telehealth

Virtual Addiction Treatment, or telehealth, offers the same evidence-based practices that our in-person programs provide, but in the comfort and safety of home. Classes use video-chat technology and smartphones or computers. Virtual outpatient treatment is real-time with a master’s level clinician as facilitator. Programs offered are: intensive outpatient programs; outpatient programs; medication-assisted treatment; eating disorder programs; one-on-one and family counseling; and alumni and family support groups. Under HHS.gov guidelines, our telehealth programs are HIPAA-compliant and insurance-eligible. Our easy-to-use programs include online assessments for entrance to any of our virtual addiction treatment programs.
