Adult Outpatient Treatment
Outpatient treatment can be an excellent option for someone who is struggling with an eating disorder, whether they are stepping down from a higher level of care or just starting the recovery process. McCallum Place offers two levels of outpatient treatment for adults age 18 and older: a partial hospitalization program (PHP) and an intensive outpatient program (IOP). These programs provide comprehensive, personalized care for people who have eating disorders like bulimia, binge-eating disorder, and anorexia. People who take part in our PHP receive full days of treatment, while our IOP offers half days of treatment. Both programs offer a more structured schedule than traditional outpatient therapy provides. During their time in outpatient treatment, each person participates in daily group therapy sessions that cover topics specific to their unique needs. Depending on their treatment goals, they may also take part in one-on-one counseling, family therapy, and experiential therapies like art therapy and yoga. Living with an eating disorder can be overwhelming, but with the guidance of the experts at McCallum Place, it’s possible to rediscover hope for a better, brighter future. When a young person is struggling with an eating disorder, it can affect every aspect of their life. They might have trouble keeping up with their schoolwork, stop hanging out with their friends, and lose interest in their favorite hobbies. But with the right treatment, they can manage their symptoms and start living a more productive life. Outpatient treatment is often ideal for kids because of the flexibility it offers. At McCallum Place, adolescents age 10 and older who are struggling with an eating disorder have two outpatient options to choose from: a partial hospitalization program (PHP) and an intensive outpatient program (IOP). Because these outpatient programs allow kids to go home when the treatment day ends, they can stay with their families while taking part in treatment. Some kids find that this helps them feel less intimidated to seek professional support. This also allows children to stay active at school and within their communities, so they experience fewer interruptions to their daily lives. Our Treatment Center
At McCallum Place, our outpatient programming is available at two facilities located in St. Louis, Missouri, and Kansas City, Kansas. We have made these places havens where people feel safe enough to be vulnerable, which allows them to put in the work to truly heal. Both facilities feature comfortable furniture and warm decor, creating a homelike atmosphere that puts people at ease. We also offer transitional housing specifically for those who are taking part in our PHP. This home is located right next to our Kirkwood House in a residential neighborhood and is often an ideal option for people who are not from the area.
