Avalon Malibu Mental Health & Addiction Treatment Center is a Licensed Addiction & Mental Health Treatment Center. Utilizing experiential methodologies, expressive arts and research based psychotherapies, we offer a place which provides a nurturing and therapeutic environment. Evolve’s residential treatment center offers compassionate, evidence-based treatment to adolescents ages 12-17 struggling with mental health, substance use, and/or behavioral issues. Many of our teens have been diagnosed with depression, anxiety, trauma, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, ADHD, conduct disorder, self-harming or high-risk behaviors, and suicidal ideation. Our handpicked treatment team consists of board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrists, licensed therapists, on-site nurses, Master’s-level residential counselors and 24-hour support staff. We utilize Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) integrated with experiential therapies (e.g. equine-assisted therapy, mindfulness, surfing, music, art, drama, fitness, yoga and more). Teens participate in individual/family therapy at least five times a week, psychiatry sessions once a week, and daily groups on DBT Skills, Anger Management, Seeking Safety, and Relapse Prevention. For out-of-state families, we conduct family therapy sessions via HIPAA-compliant video conference. We also provide daily academic support to help your adolescent stay on track with school.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) has a high, research-proven success rate for adolescents with depression, anxiety, high emotional sensitivity, self-harming behaviors, and/or suicidal ideation. Our Comprehensive DBT treatment program is suited for teens ages 12-17 who struggle with these and other mental health, behavioral, and/or substance abuse issues. Evolve is one of the only treatment centers in the country that offers a Comprehensive DBT residential program for teens. We incorporate all four Comprehensive-DBT requirements: individual & family therapy, 24/7 in-the-moment skills coaching, skills training groups, and weekly consultation team. Teens learn the four core skills of DBT: Mindfulness, Emotion Regulation, Interpersonal Effectiveness, and Distress Tolerance. Adolescents also benefit from weekly psychiatric supervision, daily academic support, and daily experiential therapies including equine, surf, drama, music, art, yoga and more.
