About
Body, Mind, Spirit, Culture
We at Presbyterian Psychological Services are committed to seeing every person who seeks our services in a holistic way: as body, mind, spirit an as embedded in a particular cultural history and environment. We respect each individual's uniqueness and work with him/her to honor each domain of their lives. We also believe no two therapeutic journeys are alike. Rather, they reflect the particular interactions of client and therapist. Therapists and clients enter into a relationship in which, when all goes well, "more" becomes possible -- more life, more play, more love, more feeling, more thought, more self-knowledge, more choices, more reflection.
Interdisciplinary Staff & Several Specialties
PPS has an interdisciplinary staff consisting of psychologists; licensed clinical social workers; licensed professional counselors; and pastoral counselors. We are able to provide coordinated treatment to children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. In addition to providing general psychotherapy, we have strong specialties in Child & Adolescent Psychotherapy, including clinical work with young people who have been sexually, physically, or emotionally abused; a Trauma Team specializing in psychotherapy with survivors of rape, early sexual or physical abuse, domestic violence or other developmental or adult traumas; a Couples Team offering pre-marital counseling and psychotherapy for couples experiencing marital discord; therapists who work with individuals with Chronic Pain or Illness and their caretakers; and a therapist who focuses on psychotherapy with individuals and couples who have been faced with Infertility or Pre-, Peri-, or Post-Natal loss of trauma, including post-partum depression.
Continued Professional Development
PPS is unique in its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professional standards and clinical development. Our staff meets three hours a week to discuss our clinical work and to engage in professional development activities. These weekly meetings evidence our deep commitment to providing the highest quality service possible to those who cross our threshold.
