Depression Treatment
Depression is a general term that encompasses several depressive disorders. Common symptoms of depression include extreme sadness, diminished energy, loss of interest in significant activities, disrupted sleep patterns, problems with focus or concentration, and a pervasive sense of worthlessness or helplessness. Criteria for a diagnosis of a specific depressive disorder are typically related to the onset, severity, and duration of these symptoms. Depression is a common condition, affecting an estimated 7% of the adult population every year. It is also a treatable condition. Most people who struggle with depression can benefit from various forms of therapy, often in combination with certain prescription medications. Individual, group, family, and experiential therapies have all proven to be effective treatments. During therapy, participants can identify issues that may have contributed to their depression, address how depression has impacted their lives, learn to recognize triggers, and develop techniques to manage their symptoms. With effective personalized care, a person who has been experiencing depression can achieve and sustain significant improvements in quality of life. Levels of Care
When seeking treatment, one of the most important factors is identifying the level or levels of care that will be most beneficial. For some people, outpatient therapy sessions may be sufficient. Others may need more intensive care, such as inpatient treatment or partial hospitalization. While in an inpatient program, you'll have the opportunity to step away from the stresses and pressures of day-to-day life and focus on your health. Inpatient treatment features round-the-clock care and various types of therapy. Depending upon your needs, it may also include medication management to ease or alleviate symptoms. An inpatient program may be most beneficial if your depression is accompanied by posttraumatic stress disorder, addiction, or other mental or behavioral health challenges. Once you've completed inpatient care, or if your symptoms don't require 24/7 support, you may enter a partial hospitalization program (PHP). At this level of care, you'll participate in a full day of treatment each day, but will return home or to an alternate residence in the evenings and on weekends. In the right circumstances, PHP can be the ideal combination of structured support and independent living. Admissions Process
Park Royal Hospital offers a broad scope of personalized treatment services for adult men and women who have been experiencing depression and other mental or behavioral health challenges. Each admissions decision at Park Royal is made on a person-by-person basis. However, certain common criteria are applicable. To be admitted into Park Royal Hospital for depression treatment, you must be age 18 or above, be able to actively participate in treatment, and be capable of working towards your treatment goals. The admissions process can begin with a phone call. Prior to starting care, you will complete a detailed assessment so that your treatment team can develop a personalized plan that addresses all of your needs.
