The Center for Anxiety & Behavior Therapy is a team of highly-trained, specialized, expert clinicians committed to providing evidence-based treatment for anxiety disorders including OCD, PTSD, social anxiety, generalized anxiety, panic, and phobias.
Our treatments differ from traditional talk therapy is several important ways. First, our approach is an active and skill-oriented, leading us to work alongside each client to deploy new skills to help them to move towards recovery. Second, our work is focused on the present day, taking care to work on reducing the burden and impact of anxiety on your quality of life today. Taken together, these differences underlie most of the research-backed protocols we use as the foundation of our treatment plans for every patient at our Center. While our work is largely guided by cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) principles, we often incorporate aspects of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) when indicated for specific clients.

Yang TMS Center of the Main Line
Treatment Center
Bryn Mawr, PA 19010
TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation), is a safe, non-invasive, effective treatment option for individuals suffering from Major Depressive Disorder who have not seen satisfactory results from antidepressants. These pulses will feel like tapping on the scalp. When delivered at the correct frequency and intensity, the pulses create localized electromagnetic fields which have the ability to stimulate nerve cells in the brain. Although treatment plans are individualized, the typical course of treatment is 5 times a week, for 6 weeks. Each individual treatment session takes approximately 20 minutes to complete, and patients can resume daily activities immediately after treatment. TMS does not use anesthesia, and patients are fully alert for the duration of the treatment session. TMS can be used as a stand-alone therapy, or in conjunction with medication and psychotherapies. TMS does not have the same side effects as traditional medications, and is generally well tolerated. The most common side effects are mild headache and sensitivity at the site of stimulation.

We work with individuals, couples and families and we specialize in treating trauma, anxiety, and depression disorders.
We have a number of therapists in our practice, and we have the philosophy that there is no one therapy style that works for everyone. So we like to tailor our style to match your specific needs and figure out what will resonate most with you. Based on your preferences and needs, we will match you with a therapist who we think will be the best fit for you. But if you have a preference for one of our therapists, that's okay too! We can set you up with them specifically. Some of the approaches that we pull from include cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectic behavior therapy (DBT), internal family systems (IFS), exposure therapy, psychodynamic therapy, relational therapy, mindfulness-based therapy, and client-centered therapy-all of which is utilized through a trauma-informed lens to help you understand how the difficult experiences you might have had in the past are contributing to your current struggles. This insight will help you make different decisions that can lead you to live a more fulfilling life with less suffering and pain.

We are passionate about helping people with trauma, anxiety, and life transitions.
When dealing with life's challenges, most of us know how we'd like to feel and act, but sometimes we just can't seem to make it happen. We strongly believe that within us all there is a true self which is completely lovable and whole. However, past experiences can cause the emotional center of our brain to take control of our feelings and behaviors, pushing our true self into the background. In your sessions, you'll focus on healing your brain's emotional center, and coming back in line with your true self.

Trauma and PTSD Treatment Centers
When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
