AKUA Mind and Body is a Southern California based fully-accredited and licensed addiction and mental health treatment facility that offers evidenced-based addiction medicine combined with holistic traditions for a broad spectrum integrative treatment approach. AKUA offers individualized treatment for adult men and women who have been diagnosed with a substance abuse disorder and/or a mental health disorder. Most clients present to treatment with more than one type of disorder, a condition known as co-occurring disorder, formerly labeled as dual diagnosis. An alcohol condition coupled with underlying depression is an example of a co-occurring disorder and both disorders must be treated simultaneously in order for the individual to fully heal, as one disorder will often feed off of another disorder. Alter Behavioral Health - San Diego is a short-term crisis stabilization unit (CSU) for individuals struggling with an acute mental health crisis as an alternative to inpatient hospitalization or other levels of care. Individuals generally come to our unit for care after experiencing suicidal ideation, a suicide attempt, severe anxiety, or generally unsafe behavior. In general, we treat individuals who are experiencing one or more of the following disorders: major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety, bipolar disorder, a personality disorder, a dissociative disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

With a 2:1 staff to patient ratio, we offer 24/7 individualized care provided by a team of qualified professionals treating mood, personality and anxiety disorders along with depression and emotional or behavioral issues. D'Amore challenges the idea of hospitalization for mental illnesses and specializes in preventative treatment by creating an environment that reduces the shame cycle. Our Build Me Up Program fosters behavioral and cognitive change through positive reinforcement. D'Amore offers single bedrooms, 3 weekly 1:1 therapy sessions, 6-8 hours of intensive group therapy daily and a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation with regular follow ups and medication management.
