DBT Skills Group

DBT combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with concepts from Eastern philosophy. It is designed to address skill deficits in affect regulation, impulse control, assertiveness, and distress tolerance. Clients learn skills to better identify and manage their emotions and then practice applying these skills to better tolerate difficult life events and improve their ability to interact effectively with others. It takes approximately 16 weeks to complete the 4 skills training modules: mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. This group is for women ages 18-30 who have difficulties with affect and impulse control, anger management problems and other issues.
