New Era of Precision Psychiatry
Nashville Brain Institute (NBI) is a Neuropsychiatric clinical and research institution that specializes in precision psychiatric diagnosis and treatment. Precision psychiatry is an approach that focuses on understanding the underlying neurobiological mechanisms that cause the symptoms of mental health conditions. In NBI, our mental health specialists work together with our neurologist to bridge the gap between neurobiology and psychiatry, therefore we can resolve complicated neuropsychiatric conditions through comprehensive diagnostic approaches and treatment modalities, including neurotransmitter assessment, neuropsychological tests, Ketamine treatment, Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, TMS Treatment, Suboxone treatment, IOP group therapy. Nashville Brain Institute (NBI) is one of few practices nationwide offering an accelerated TMS protocol. Recently the FDA approved Stanford’s Saint TMS protocol, a new version of TMS, that can be even more effective than traditional TMS treatment to reach 80% remission rate. Where the standard TMS treatment is for 30 sessions over a 6-week period, the accelerated protocol involves 10 treatments a day for 5 days. Our accelerated TMS protocol was based upon the newly FDA approved Saint TMS protocol with some modifications to make it more practical for private clinics. We compact the 10 Theta Burst TMS sessions into 5 hours/day, 5 days of TMS intensive treatment. Each patient receiving Accelerated TMS treatment in our clinic will be assigned with a special team of psychiatrist, TMS technician, and a care coordinator. Our cost for Accelerated TMS treatment is $800 per day, and is not covered by insurance at this time. Alternatively, standard TMS is still covered by most insurances. Accelerated TMS has the advantage not only being more effective compared to standard TMS treatment, but also makes it possible for those without a TMS center nearby to travel to one of our locations. NBI is specialized in ketamine-intranasal treatment of depression, PTSD, OCD, Autism, and substance use disorders. Our customized dose titration protocol not only reduce the discomfort of injection but also reduced the cost to a quarter of the Ketamine-infusion cost. Our Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy have the benefit of immediate psychedelic psychotherapy and also the delayed ketamine chemical treatment for depression and trauma. Guided Drug Selection: Our clinician selects a drug for individualized treatment based upon the information from Pharmacogenetic test and the Neurotransmitter Assessment. Neuromodulation (rTMS, tVNS): repetitive Transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) is a noninvasive procedure that uses magnetic fields to stimulate nerve cells in the brain to improve symptoms of depression. rTMS is typically used when other depression treatments haven't been effective. At NBI, we use Magstim and Apollo rTMS to treat depression and other off label treatment. Transcutaneous Vagus Nerve Stimulation (tVNS) treatment is a non-invasive and alternative treatment for Vagus nerve stimulator implant.
